Saturday, Nov. 8th

What a great day. Thanks to the Avenir, and particularly to Sarah Lillis, Education Programs Coordinator, for an excellent day with the community making pieces of art.

Brooklyn warmly greeted everyone. Sarah set out irresistible materials for us to create with, and participants were drawn to the elements immediately upon entering. We actually had to ask people to pause to for a few instructions on the day.

It was great interacting with the variety of people in the room. Five women had been on 37 trips together and had crazy stories about shark fishermen, burning bushes, cigarettes and (let’s just say) even more. They were truly excellent.

Then there were gardeners, art quilters, photographers, twig storytellers (yes!), sustainability experts, mothers and daughters, students, journalists, HR experts, and many others with interesting backgrounds. Thanks to all who came and shared themselves and their creativity in the space.

Here are some wonderful pictures from the day, a great success.
